Stuart Booth
Stuart Booth is an Engineer turned artist. His aim is to capture the passion, glamour and excitement of motor racing. He trained and worked as a professional engineer in Bristol, working amongst other projects during the swinging sixties, upon Concorde.
He followed motor racing from the age of ten and always wanted to design racing cars, but he never had the chance; the next best thing became to portray them on canvas. When he took early retirement he chose to devote himself full time to this endeavour.
His main interest is in the great cars and racing drivers on the classic road circuits of Europe in those days when it was still possible to get close to the action. He finds modern Formula 1 exciting, but with limited artistic opportunities.
Stuart is self taught, and has tried a variety of media, though he now works exclusively in oils, as he feels the medium to have the depth and strength needed for such dynamic subjects; oil permits the subtlety of colour and depiction of fine detail. His style has developed to enable the feeling of speed to be captured whilst retaining accuracy of outline and identification of the location.
His work has been exhibited at many top motoring venues in the UK including; Goodwood, Silverstone and the Donnington collection, and in a number of UK and overseas galleries. He also paints marine, aviation and railway subjects.
